A Million More To Go is my first feature film—the story written by Austin-based playwright, Max Langert was born from chaos, crafted with urgency, and made with love by a team of scrappy artists. We filmed the entire movie in just seven days, driven by an indie spirit and a commitment to tell a story that feels as raw and fractured as the moment that inspired it.
While the narrative is loosely based on the real-life Maricopa County ballot recount efforts during the 2020 election, this is not a documentary or a political exposé. It’s a work of fiction, one that explores how systems—political, emotional, and interpersonal—begin to splinter under pressure. Rather than prescribing answers, the film aims to reflect the questions, allegiances, and tensions that emerge in uncertain times.
This low-budget production demanded invention. We predominantly used two camera setups and multiple types of cameras not only out of necessity, but to reflect the fragmented, sometimes surreal atmosphere of the world we were building. The result is a film that’s intentionally rough-edged—restless in its gaze, and unapologetically wavering in its conclusions.
At its core, A Million More To Go is about belief—how it’s formed, fractured, and sometimes weaponized. It’s about what happens when people search for meaning in the margins. I’m proud of what we created with finite time and resources, and I’m humbled to share it with you today.
